การใช้  Articles   a,   an,   the

                คำ article แบ่งออกได้เป็น 2 ชนิด คือ
                 A. Indefinite Article ได้แก่  a, an   (ใช้กับคำนามนับได้ที่ไม่เจาะจง)
                     B. Definite Article ได้แก่  the   (ใช้กับคำนามนับได้ที่เจาะจง)

A. Indefinite Article ได้แก่  a, an       หลักการใช้ a, an                                                                                                                        1. ใช้ an นำหน้าคำที่ขึ้นต้นด้วยสระ a, e, i, o,u หรือออกเสียงสระไม่ว่าจะเขียนขึ้นต้น                       ด้วยพยัญชนะก็ตามเช่น                       an elephant, an hour, an umbrella, an apple                  2. ใช้ a, an นำหน้าคำนามเอกพจน์ที่นับได้เสมอที่มีความหมายเป็น"หนึ่ง"                      She has a dog.                      Give me an apple.                      This is  a  durian.                                                                                                                                       3. ใช้ a, an นำหน้าคำที่บอกอาชีพ                       I  am a student .                        I want to be a teacher.                 4. ใช้ a, an นำหน้านามเอกพจน์ที่แปลเป็นต่อ...(หน่วย)                                      Oranges  cost 50 baht a kilogram.                  5. ใช้ a กับการเจ็บไข้ได้ป่วยเช่น                       a stomachache, a headache, a fever                       I ate somtam at lunch and now I have a stomachache.                   6. ใช้ a, an ในประโยคอุทานตามหลัง what เช่น                        What is  this  ?      It’s  a  pear.                                                                                                   เราจะไม่ใช้ a, an กับสิ่งต่อไปนี้                     1.กับคำนามที่นับไม่ได้ (uncountable nouns)                    2.ไม่ใช้นำหน้าชื่อวิชา ชื่อกีฬา ชื่อประเทศ ชื่อเมือง ชื่อมหาวิทยาลัย                     3.ไม่ใช้หน้าคำที่เป็นมื้ออาหาร breakfast, lunch, dinner

B. Definite Article ได้แก่ the            หลักการใช้ the                          1. ใช้กับคำนามนับได้เอกพจน์และพหูพจน์ที่เป็นการชี้เฉพาะเจาะจงลงไปว่าคนไหน                                อันไหน สิ่งไหน                            2. ใช้ the นำหน้าคำนามที่มีสิ่งเดียว                                                                                  the sun, the moon, the sky                                                                         3. ใช้ the นำหน้าชื่อครอบครัวเช่น                                 The Browns, The Lees                           4. ตามปกติเราใช้ the นำหน้าชื่อหนังสือพิมพ์เช่น                                The Nation, The Times, The Sun                                         5. ใช้ the กับชื่อ สถานที่                                                                                      ทะเล     the Pacific                                 เทือกเขา the Himalayas                                 แม่นํ้า the   Mississippi                                 ทะเลทราย the Sahara                                โรงแรม the Plaza  Hotel                                โรงหนังโรงละคร the Playhouse                                 พิพิธภัณฑ์     the  National   Museum                                 ชื่อประเทศที่มีคำว่า     Republic   , Kingdom , State                            6. ใช้ the เมื่อเราพูดโดยทั่วไปในเรื่องเครื่องดนตรี                                   the piano                                   I play the guitar.                                                                                                             7. ใช้ the ก่อนคำว่า same                                  Your shirt is the same color as mine.                            8. ใช้ the + คำคุณศัพท์เมื่อกล่าวถึงกลุ่มบุคคลเป็นพิเศษ                                    the rich, the sick, the poor                            9. ใช้ the กับคำนามที่เราได้กล่าวมาแล้วทั้งผู้พูดและผู้ฟังรู้ว่ากำลังคิดถึงสิ่งใด	the moon
	the sun
	the   Mississipp
	the guitar

เราจะไม่ใช้ the กับสิ่งต่อไปนี้ 1.  ไม่ใช้ the นำหน้านาม+จำนวนเช่น       room 255 2. ไม่ใช้ the เมื่อเราพูดถึงสิ่งของหรือบุคคลโดยทั่วไป       I'm afraid of spiders.
